Rookie classes were pitcher-heavy: Yankees right-hander Luis Gil took AL Rookie of the Year with 15 wins, while Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes posted an 11–3 mark and 1.96 ERA to win NL honors as the previous year’s first overall pick.

The All-Star Game returned to Arlington’s Globe Life Field, where the American League won 5–3 and Boston’s Jarren Duran earned MVP with a go-ahead two-run homer. Bruce Bochy managed the AL and Torey Lovullo the NL, with Corbin Burnes and Paul Skenes getting the starting assignments.
